I'm not dead yet!

Good Golly Miss Molly!

I am so ridiculously sorry about not posting in my blog the last two months. The only excuse I have is that real life kicked it into gear and I just lost track of everything that I wasn't trying to get done on a time line.

A quick update on life, then?

Since my last update I've been trying to get my services done at school. I ended up having to come back to audit for the first week and a half of this semester, which I am still doing. And Due to snow and Ice at the beach (You know, an area where no one is ready for that dreaded and most dirtiest of S words), no one is really equipped with dealing with it. So that means yesterday and today school was canceled. Sucks to be me because I needed that time to do the work. But I'm hoping something can happen between now and then. Everyone cross your fingers for me.

And the main reason that I want to get out of that school so fast?

I GOT A JOB!!! :D:D:D

It is at an awesome salon and day spa and I will be doing my 6 month apprenticeship there once I get my temporary State Board License. Then, once I a done with that, I shall be the official nail tech at the salon! :D I'm soooo super excited about it all and I can't help to share product reviews with you guys and everything because I will be using such awesome equipment and products there.

Christmas was great and I've spoiled myself with tons of nail polishes. I have SUCH an addiction, its ridiculous, really. I bought ALL of the China Glaze Tronica collection. SUCH pretty colors and they look awesome with a matte top coat. I also have six of the colors from China Glaze's Anchors Away collection. I even got into a bit of a tiff with one of the ladies at Cosmo Prof about how they only had 6 colors, but the collection had a total of 12. She didn't believe me because they only showed 6 in their sale paper. Whatever, I suppose. I'm gonna see if they have the rest at Sally's to decide if I want them or not. Sucks because they will be about a dollar more expensive there. BUT the 6 colors that I do have are absolutely fantastic. I will try to swatch them at some point. I'm in LOVE with White Cap. Just, if you find it. Buy it. Its awesome. It adds this element of silvery-gold shimmer to your polish and its just beautiful. I also love Life preserver and Sea Spray.

That's all I have for now. I promise to have some pictures in the near future and to really work better at posting in this baby because I really do enjoy it.

What goes bump in the night.

I was going to post this last night, but I ended up going to a high school football game with my friend so that she has someone to talk to and hang out with while her daughter ran around the whole night with her friends. And, seeing as how I like to hand out with my friends no matter the venue, I was there. And I was running late, so I didn't get to post it before I left. So, why not post now? :D

I wanted to wait on posting the manicure until it was up on the website, but I decided to compete in Polish Freshie's Halloween Nail art competition. She posted all of the entries and they are seriously awesome. I wish my picture had been better so you could have seen the detailing a whole lot better. Sadly, I didn't make it into the top 3 (Or, top 4 actually). But the ones that did are pretty cool. Voting is going on now, so stop on by and cast your vote.


Here's my entry. I used my awesome hand and nail model Katherine. The design is full moon and silhouettes. The pinky is bats, ring finger is a witch on a broom, the middle finger is a tombstone, the index finger is a cat, and the thumb is a haunted house or church (however you look at it).

Sure, I'm sad I didn't make it in the top four, but I'm super proud of the design. I just wish the picture had been a whole lot better. But soon, my internet friends. Soon the pictures will be better. I promise.

Totally Pwned Me

You guuuuuuuys! Stamping your nails is haaaard!

I just got beaten by shiny metal disks and rubber tipped stampers! How his this POSSIBLE?!

Well, I'll tell you how it's possible...This whole stamping process is REALLY going to take some getting used to.


The main reason I even got the stamps was because its ridonkulously hard for me to paint my right hand. Even applying nail polish sometimes is questionable. Basically, every time I even put a brush of any kind in my left hand, it turns me into that guy from Scary Movie 2 and the entire time I'm working I can't help but go "Its my STRONG hand" over and over again in my head. So, yeah. I got some stamps.

I ordered the bundle monster stamps and the designs on them are awesome. My ability to use them, not so much. BUT I'm working on it! Because the plates don't come with a stamper, I purchased the Konad double sided stamper and scraper from amazon, which I thought was a good deal. I then proceeded to play with them for about an hour and half or longer before finally working on my own nails.

Please excuse the bad quality. My nails were wet and I didn't want to mess them up looking for my camera. But, yeah, here's my plates on the table along with my base coat, four bottles of China Glaze, and used cotton rounds in a plastic bag on the ground.

Finally, I decided to used one of my favorite colors, China Glaze For Audrey. Which, I have to say, I'm concerned for this color. Last time I was at Sally's, I didn't see a spot for this color anymore in their China Glaze display. I'm gonna have to check Cosmo Prof asap and get another bottle, just in case. The top is China Glaze Jitterbug, from their vintage vixen collection. I then top coated it with Seche Vite.



Yeah, the picture is bad and you can't hardly see the image. Its one of the issues that I'm having, actually. Its almost like my images aren't as noticeable as I would like. Maybe I'm still having issues with color choices, I don't really know. I think I just need to do more research on using these plates. Anyone out there have some suggestions or links to blogs that focus on Konad and other nail stamping plates that I might have missed?
